How daunting would it be to cook for a celebrity chef like Neven Maguire? Well Marian Walsh, a third year student at Loreto secondary school in Fermoy did just that recently and took it all in her stride.

Marian was selected for the all island final of the 'Take-Away My Way' cookery competition. The celebrity chef was head judge. He commended Marian on her winning dish, jalfrezi curry; a blend of sweet peppers, tomatoes and coriander.

The home economics students in Loreto all prepared, cooked and served healthier modified versions of their favourite take-away meals to enter the competition. Only 16 students from around the country reached the final leaving Marian in very esteemed company and with an achievement to be proud of.
