ACTIVITIES DURING 2012

The group organised a four day trip on 24th July, basing themselves in the Castlecourt Hotel in Westport, Co. Mayo. Some of the locations visited were Kylemore Abbey, Achill Island and Connemara. The weather was kind and this outing was enjoyed by all.

The second outing of 2012 (15th-17th October) was to Dublin where we took in the Croke Park Museum, Guinness Brewery, Dundrum Shopping Centre, Irish National Stud Farm and the Japanese Gardens in Kildare town. The group were based in the Tara Towers Hotel.

The autumn social was held in Fermoy Rowing Club and included groups from: Conna, Glanworth, Kilworth, Ballyduff, Knockraha, Kildorrery and Glenville. Fermoy Senior Citizens’ committee made return visits to these areas. A delegation from Fermoy also attended the autumn jamboree in The Hazel Tree, Mallow.

In December we were invited to Glanworth Mill for evening tea with Peter Kelly of ‘Brides By Franc’ fame. Our Christmas dinner was held in Fermoy Rowing Club on 11th December. A fine-sized crowd were entertained by Edmond O’Gorman (Pacific Blue). Santa dropped in and lots of spot prizes were given out. It was a great night. At this party, our life long president, Mattie Feerick was remembered.
