‘Community Connect’ programme answers the call

Covid-19 has presented challenges to local communities on a scale which they have never encountered before. As a result of this, the importance of certain supports and services within these communities has become increasingly evident.

The Avondhu Blackwater Partnership’s ‘Community Connect’ programme is one such initiative which has demonstrated its value over the last number of weeks in particular.

Remarking on this, Valerie Murphy, Avondhu Blackwater Partnership’s CEO, noted that the ‘Community Connect’ programme, which provides valuable services to older citizens, had become a significant focus for the Partnership during the pandemic.

“We had to respond quickly to the needs of older citizens, particularly given the isolation they would experience as a result of the cocooning restrictions …” she told The Avondhu.
