A call has been made for traffic calming measures on the approach to Ballyporeen village after an incident earlier in the week in which a child was injured.
Gardaí are continuing to investigate after they and emergency services attended the scene of a single-vehicle collision on Tuesday evening, at around 6.30pm. A juvenile was brought to Cork University Hospital for treatment.
The road was closed for a time, but reopened on Wednesday afternoon.
Speaking with The Avondhu, one local made the point that even though there are islands on the Mitchelstown Road approaching the village, they are sufficiently far away for a car to pick up speed before the right-turning bend into the village.
The local made the point that a speed bump is needed here, like the one that is already in the centre of the village by the Community Centre.
