A superb total of €2,240 was raised in Carmel's Garden Centre, Kilworth recently following a very successful floral arranging demonstration by Rose Hickey.
Cork Simon were the beneficiaries and the charity was represented by Kerry MacMahon. Kerry said she was very impressed by the way the event was organised and the level of support it received.
"We rely heavily on charitable donations from the public and a contribution like we've received today is a fantastic boost," she said.
In the run up to Christmas, husband and wife team Carmel and Gerry Towey, also help co-ordinate a clothes collection for Simon and this was another spectacular success story with dozens of sacks coming in full of quality garments.
Following the floral demonstration which had a distinctively Christmas theme, patrons were treated to teas and refreshments.
On the business side of things Carmel's Garden Centre has been busy catering for the Christmas tree market and glad to report that trade has been very brisk and there's also been good demand for Christmas wreaths. The centre is open Monday to Saturday (9am to 5pm) and Sundays (12 noon to 5pm).
