Galtee Gaels 6-3 Murroe Boher 0-3

We’ve had a busy week playing two games. First up we were home to Murroe Boher in Kilbehenny. The girls played some brilliant football from the start.

Leanne Quirke set the tone with some great goalkeeping and brilliant kick-outs. Ciara Heenan and Molly Ryan were clearing any ball that came into the backs and were well assisted by Orlaith Dunne, Gemma Geary and Roisin Maunsell. Chloe and Aoibheann were getting on a lot of ball in midfield and with Roisin Breedy in scoring form we took the lead.

Sophie Cantwell, Amy O’Connor, Emma Burke and Edel Landers were creating great chances. Management were able call on Leah Geary, Orla Burke, Leah Quane, Maeve Heenan, Tess Casey, Amy Coughlan and Ciara Moriarty who all played a big part in this victory. Well done girls!

Galtee Gaels 3-3 Knockainey 3-4

Next up, we were away to Knockainey, and from the start we knew this was going to be a tough game. We got the first score of the game from Aoibheann but Knockainey hit back with 2 fast goals. The girls hit back with 1-2 in reply the goal coming from Roisin and the point from Chloe. Half-time score Galtee Gaels 1-2 Knockainey 2-2.

We started the second half brightly and went ahead by 2 points and held this lead for most of the second half but as everyone knows a two point lead is a dangerous lead and Knockainey got a goal with four minutes remaining. We had two chances to level it but we didn’t take them. The girls can be very proud of their efforts and can count themselves very unlucky not to come away with at least a draw.

Team: Leanne Quirke, Ciara Heenan, Hannan Ward, Emma Burke, Molly Ryan, Gemma Geary, Aoibheann Clancy, Amy O’Connor, Roisin Breedy, Edel Landers, Sophie Cantwell, Noelle Lane, Orla Burke, Leah Geary and Leah Quane. Well played girls keep up the training.
