Sammon Contracting Group Ltd., who held the contract for the extension as Coláiste an Chraoibhín, Fermoy has been entered into interim examinership following a High Court ruling.
On foot of this, Cork Education and Training Board's CE Mr Ted Owens, this week moved to assure staff, students and parents that the Board is in communication with the Department of Education and Skills on the matter and that it will do 'everything it can to support the situation' and keep everyone informed on progress.
Despite assurances by the Sammon Group to The Avondhu back in February that the new extension would be open 'within weeks', this now is clearly not the case and an opening date at this point is unknown.
The construction at Coláiste ceased a number of months ago having been at the receiving end of many setbacks.
