Brave toddler, Cian Carey-Conway from Dungarvan is still fighting the good fight having coming through 3 very serious operations to reconstruct part of his heart.
Cian's dad Liam, is from Cappoquin and his mum, Nuala Carey is a native of Ballysaggart and it's this village that is leading the way with a major fundraising 'fun run' next Sunday. Event organisers are appealing to drivers and riders of bicycles, cars, tractors, quads 'and everything in between', to assemble outside Meagher's Bar in Ballysaggart next Sunday. Quads will depart at 10am, tractors at 11am and all other vehicles at 12noon sharp.
The run starts and finishes in Ballysaggart and refreshments will be served following the run. Quite a few cyclists have expressed an interest in taking part and an interesting route has been drawn up for 'the two wheelers'. Quads will face an off-road course which will present its own challenges.
Those behind the initiative aren't expecting the sun to be splitting the stones, but say if the day is anyway fine, they'll be delighted.
For his part, little Cian must face the prospect of more vital surgery in 2014 and needless to say, the family would appreciate any manner of support. As the event nears, the run is generating more and more interest and all going well, there should be a strong turnout on Sunday.
