The culprits of illegal dumping in the Ballyoran area of Castlelyons got an unexpected call to remove their rubbish, after documentation linking them to a heap of discarded household items was discovered.
Last week, a vast amount of items were dumped at the entrance to a field outside Castlelyons, consisting largely of household waste, furniture, old linoleum and electrical items, amongst others. The perpetrators, however, never covered their tracks and among the items dumped was documentation, that on further investigation, linked back to the culprit.
According to local Paul O’Shea, he discovered the scene of the crime at about 5pm one evening last week, and after his son went through the discarded items, documents containing names and addresses were discovered and they began an investigation. The matter was also reported to the relevant authorities.
