Gardaí responded to an attempted burglary on Thursday last on the Dublin Road in Fermoy at approximately 9:10am.
Although no items were taken from the property, some criminal damage was caused.
It is understood that an individual involved in the attempted robbery was later involved in a number of other incidents in the greater Cork area including various other robberies and the ramming of a Garda patrol car on the N40 South Ring Road.
This led to a major high-speed chase involving scores of Gardaí before the man, who is believed to have been with other individuals in the car, allegedly lost control of the vehicle, exited and fled.
The man was due to appear in court for the second time on Wednesday following an initial charge at Cork District Court during a special sitting on Sunday 15th.
