The plans to extend and upgrade the facilities at Fermoy Community Hospital are in full flow at present and it is expected that the works will be completed ‘in advance of January 1, 2020’ according to Jim Curran, Head of Estates at the HSE. 

Kevin O’Keeffe TD asked the Minister for Health for the details and timeframe of the development through a parliamentary question and received a reply stating that the project is progressing through Stages 2B (acceptance of statutory conditions) and 2C (acceptance of detailed design and proceed to tender). 

However, it was noted at the end of the reply that the ‘progress of projects is subject to funding and the prioritisation of capital projects.’

Deputy O’Keeffe said that he hopes the project will adhere to the timeframe outlined in the reply.
