Cork County Board delegate John Arnold has resigned as a steward at Páirc Uí Chaoimh after some forty years of voluntary service at the home of Cork GAA.
Having first begun stewarding around 1980, the Bartlemy native said that his decision to resign comes as he ‘wasn’t happy’ with the recent decision to hold the Munster v South Africa rugby game at the ground in November.
“I’ve nothing against rugby and I’ve nothing against soccer, but our main ethos was always the promotion of hurling and football. I can’t think for the life of me why we should be using our facilities to raise funds for other sporting organisations,” Mr Arnold said.
