The Magner family from Glenville were knee-deep in the action as the highly anticipated finale of Ireland’s Fittest Family took place on Saturday.
Coached by Cork’s own Anna Geary, the local team consisting of parents Ciara and John and sons Greg and Alex, first took on the ‘Burning rubber’ challenge, consisting of a head-to-head race with the three other finalists at Dublin’s motocross track. Here, families had to climb over shipping containers before dragging tyres along the undulating track.
Performing strongly, the Magners eventually came first, impressively beating the O’Connells from Waterford, the Ferns family from Clare and the Cummins family from Kilkenny, all three other teams being coached by Davy Fitzgerald.
