Araglin’s Darragh O’Donoghue turned in one of his best performances to date by defeating Jack Skehan (Touraneena, Co Waterford) to claim the All-Ireland men’s singles novice title in Kingscourt, Co Cavan last weekend – he defeated his opponent 15/11, 5/15 and 11/7 in a gripping contest.

In what was a great tournament for local players, Patrick ‘Pa’ Hanley overcame fellow Fermoy man and multiple All-Ireland champion, Noel O’Callaghan to take the men’s singles crown.

Darragh’s victory marks him down as one of country’s best young players and follows on from a strong showing in last year’s junior world championships. Extremely popular on the racquetball circuit the talented youngster is now a role model for a group of Araglin juvenile players who have taken to the sport in a big way. Well done to Darragh and his mentor Mick Cunningham on this fantastic achievement.
