Mitchelstown Golf Club is celebrating its fourth national title in its 116-year history, after its JB Carr team emerged victorious from a closely contested All-Ireland final in Co. Wicklow last Sunday.
The Munster champions defeated Portumna Golf Club 3.5 – 1.5 at Woodenbridge in the Vale of Avoca, with two of the five matches going to the 19th hole. The team defeated Ulster representatives, Rossmore Golf Club, 3.5 to 1.5 in the semi-final match on Saturday.
JP Ryan rolled a putt to within two inches of the hole on Sunday, as Mitchelstown secured the JB Carr Diamond Trophy.
