It is hoped that movement will be seen on the former Bank of Ireland building in Lismore as Waterford City and County Council has confirmed that ‘active negotiations’ are now underway.

“Waterford City and County Council is currently engaged in active negotiations with a local community group regarding the future use of this important town centre building,” a spokesperson for the council told The Avondhu.

In May 2022, it was reported that the council were in the process of acquiring the former Bank of Ireland building in the town, which was purchased at the time ‘at the very low end’ of the market valuation, according to council officials.
