Mallow golfer James Sugrue said it was ‘a dream come true’ to play at The Open Golf Championship last weekend where fellow country man Shane Lowry finished six strokes clear of nearest pursuer, Tommy Fleetwood, to claim the famed Claret Jug.
Sugrue acquitted himself credibly over the two days, narrowly missing out on the cut at Royal Portrush.
Speaking to The Avondhu this week, he said it was “an unreal feeling to play in The Open.”
