‘Aspects Of Local History’, a seminar with 3 keynote speakers, took place in The First Fruits Arts Centre in Watergrasshill last Sunday evening.

The 3 speakers at the event were Eamon Cotter (Rathcormac), Christy Roche (Grange) and John Arnold (Bartlemy). Eamon spoke about the region’s archaeology, pre-Christian settlements and the results of local archaeological digs. John Arnold recalled the wealth of folklore about east Cork, while author, Christy Roche, provided the historical background to Watergrasshill and its environs.

MC for this free event was Barry Curtin. Watergrasshill’s sporting past was recalled by Batt McHugh, in conversation with Barry. The seminar was enjoyed by a large crowd, who were informed and entertained by the various speakers.
