Behind the doors of Batavia’s furniture and gift store on Rathealy Road, a Festive Wonderland awaits all those seeking some interior inspiration.

If the floor-to-ceiling Christmas tree or wreath-wrapped bannister doesn’t catch your eye instantly, the customisable solid hardwood furniture pieces, cosy candles, unique ceramics or statement wall pieces are sure to.

Now entering its 23rd Christmas season, Batavia is catering to all who come by, opening not just Monday to Saturday, but also on Sunday from 1pm to 5pm, all the way up to Christmas Eve.

According to Majella O’Regan, who manages the local furniture and gift store with her husband Noel and knowledgeable sales team, customers have already put away special pieces from Batavia for their friends, families and loved ones.

“At Batavia, you can put things away and pay it off over a number of weeks or pay a deposit and pay the balance when you come to collect it. Everything’s new this year, all the decorations are new, we have some new ranges of furniture that only came in last month, candles and pictures, and beautiful wall pieces.

“We have everyday pieces as well, and we have gifts for everybody in the line of throws, 100% wool or lambs wools, jewellery from Dublin, candles from Rathcormac. I’ve quite a few new Irish stockists in cards by Little paper mill, Vale ceramics, Jerpoint glass, Brid Fanning Prints and the Max Benjamin range exclusive to Batavia in Fermoy,” Majella said.

Most of Batavia’s furniture products are designed in-house and made mainly in Indonesia, while many of the products stocked in-store are created and produced by local, Irish and worldwide Artisans.

Batavia stocks several Irish and locally made products including Candles from Cassie and Coco, a Rathcormac-based brand and Lighting by Copperfish, Mishe Jewellery made in Dublin and many more.

Much of the Furniture and gifts offered, can be browsed online at the recently launched website bataviafurniture.ie.

For the full selection and experience visit Batavia at their unique and beautiful showroom at Fermoy.

For those unsure or unable to decide amongst the wide selection we are on-hand to help you.

Gift vouchers are also available in-store or online, and Batavia can assist you with the sometimes difficult task of deciding amongst the unique, unusual, and practical gifts for your loved one or just to treat yourself.

If you cannot find what you are looking for, you can also order a custom-made furniture piece from Batavia’s own dedicated design and built factory. Quality is a key focus of the business; the custom pieces are guaranteed to be an heirloom for future generations.

“We custom-make our furniture. It’s not just what’s here in the shop. We can help create the piece of your dreams. From all the furniture you see in store, we can custom-make units in different timbers, finishes or dimensions, and it’s all from solid, legally sourced top-quality timber. All is compliant with social ethics and legality as required by the European Union.

“We are one of Ireland’s top, if not the only company, that can offer this full service to you while assuring you of the sustainability and legality of our sources.

“Furniture orders now are being processed for May/June next year, we need this time as we cut and dry our own logs specifically for you. It’s a full process, we’re not just buying from other people, it’s made specially,” Majella added.
