The Rose of Tralee was not to be for Cork this year, despite the double chances with Perth's Rose Jean O'Riordan from Watergrasshill and Donoughmore's Edel Buckley, both competing.

However, a young girl from Glanworth seemed to have an inside track of who was going to claim victory in the dome, as she was pictured with the winning Texas Rose at the Rose of Tralee event before the winner was announced.

Fermoy based milliner Ann Murphy also had a taste the Rose of Tralee fame as the two Cork ladies wore two of her creations as they made their way into Tralee last week.

The much coveted crown went to the Texas Rose, Hayley O'Sullivan.
