Residents’ frustration grows over derelict ‘Town property

Residents along Thomas Street in Mitchelstown are calling for increased action on a long-derelict house which they say has become a serious health and safety concern for neighbouring homes. 

Locals say the property has been a lasting worry for around a decade, with concerns now extending beyond eye-sore appearance to reports of rats and water damage in adjoining homes. 

With much of Thomas Street visually well-kept, with freshly painted homes, clean patios and visible pride taken in premises by residents, locals say the derelict house has become the thorn in their side for an otherwise well-cared-for part of the town.
