Local talent, courage and determination were celebrated at the Cappamore – Kilmallock Municipal District awards reception, held at Deerbert House Hotel in Kilmallock last Wednesday evening, May 27th.

The event recognised a number of local recipients from south Limerick in The Avondhu area, whose achievements show that influence is not measured by age.

Among those honoured on the night was young Galbally girl Tara Grogan, who received a bravery award from the National Ambulance Service. Tara was at home with her two younger sisters when their father, Matthew, collapsed. Seeing her father lying on the floor, looking really unwell, she rang 999, gave the Eircode for the house and took care of her sisters whilst waiting for the ambulance to arrive.
