Renewable gas facility granted planning with 57 conditions

Mitchelstown

A significant decision was delivered on Monday, November 27th, as Cork County Council granted conditional planning for an anaerobic digestion facility at Corracunna, Mitchelstown.

The development, proposed by Nephin Renewable Gas, was approved subject to 57 conditions addressing concerns around feedstock, public health and safety, environmental protection, noise pollution, traffic and the potential impact on Mitchelstown’s amenities.

The proposal of an anaerobic site has been a source of local debate for some months, with the development facing many objections and  concerns from local residents who fear the facility poses risks related to public health and safety, as well as environmental, traffic and amenity related effects.
