Ballyporeen’s Mick Meaney has been honoured in TG4’s feature film titled ‘Beo Faoin bhFód’ (Alive Under The Sod), which focuses on the life of the ‘Buried Alive’ daredevil, who in 1968 had himself buried six feet under the London soil in a simple wooden coffin.
The film, produced by Black Lobster Production with support from TG4 and Coimisiún na Meán, was screened at the Pálás Cinema in Galway recently as part of the ‘Galway Film Fleadh’ festival.
One of Mick’s close friends and former work colleagues, Mike Walsh was invited to the public screening, along with Larry Moriarty. In speaking to The Avondhu, Mr Walsh recalled his memories of Mick Meaney and gave his thoughts on the film.
