Tallow-Fermoy road ‘not fit for purpose’

‘Not fit for purpose’ is how Cllr Donnchadh Mulcahy described the N72 between Tallow and Fermoy.

“Anybody who travels it will confirm the poor condition of this national route. The best part of the road (approx 2km) is on the Waterford side of the county boundary.

“It’s a national route from Dungarvan to Killarney with large trucks and buses using it. It’s not fit for purpose as the surface is rough and uneven on much of it. Unfortunately, all the works that need to be done are on the Cork side of the divide, something we have no control over,” the Tallow councillor said.

Working with colleagues on the Cork side of the border, Cllr Mulcahy says that he has been trying to address issues that are of concern to both counties.
