Ivan Grimes, Director of Services at Waterford City and County Council, confirmed that the council would ‘look at’ options and potential funding sources regarding the purchase of the late Dervla Murphy’s home in Lismore.
Initially, the call for the purchase of the famed travel writer’s home was made at a meeting of the Plenary Council, where Cllr John Pratt said it was a great opportunity to honour the local woman’s legacy and promote Lismore.
This week, Cllr Pratt raised the matter once again at the Dungarvan Lismore District meeting, stating that he believes it is important for the building to be retained.
