Two local sportswomen were honoured over the weekend, as some of the strongest Gaelic talent picked up All Stars Awards at two different ceremonies – Laura Hayes (St Catherines) picking up two awards in camogie, with Katie Quirke (Bride Rovers) taking the football plaudits for the Rebel county.
St Catherines legend, Laura Hayes, claimed her second All Stars Award and was crowned the PwC GPA Camogie Senior Player of the Year at the high profile awards ceremony in Croke Park on Friday night, November 15. Hayes was joined by her parents, grandmother, sister and aunt, as well as Cork teammates – who also received nominations – and some of the Cork camogie crew, at the night of celebration.
Speaking with The Avondhu this week, Laura’s father, Frank Hayes said that she was delighted to receive the award and is now enjoying a well-deserved break ahead of next season.
