Kilbehenny native Aoibheann Clancy played her part in a momentous day for Shelbourne as the Dublin club claimed its first ever Women’s All-Island Cup title.
The established League of Ireland footballer lined out for Shelbourne in Saturday’s final against two-time winners Galway United at Tolka Park, where the Dublin side came out on top with a 2-0 victory.
Clancy, operating in midfield, was reported to have caused Galway all sorts of problems from the outset with her set plays. She had almost helped her side take the lead in the opening ten minutes, with a delivery into captain Peal Slattery ending up just wide of the post.
