The Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU) is delighted to announce the launch of the 2023 Art Competition. Now in its 40th year, the competition is one of the most prominent and longest-running competitions of its type across Ireland.

The theme for this year’s competition focuses on ‘My Community & Me’ and asks participants to consider their local community and their own individual place with in it. For example, what makes their community different? is it the people within it? and/or is it the beauty you see every day?

There are two overall categories – General Category & Additional Needs Category – with the following age groups in each category (age limit applying as at December 31st, 2023): 7 years and under; 8 – 10 years inclusive; 11 – 13 years inclusive; 14 – 17 years inclusive; 18 years and over (adult).

CREATIVITY TO THE FORE

Commenting on the launch, ILCU President Martin Busch said “I am delighted to launch this year’s Art Competition. Engaging several hundred thousand children every year, the longevity of the competition is a testament to its popularity, the creativity of the participants and support of credit unions across Ireland.

“This year’s theme is important as it is reflective of the core values that underpin the credit union movement, in that a community is not just a group of people but rather a collective that works together and considers the needs of all. We are looking forward to seeing this theme brought to life across all age categories and localities in this year’s competition”.

It is important to note that entries for the Credit Union Art Competition are made via local participating credit unions – not all credit unions however take part in this competition.
