Cappoquin is preparing to welcome a new postmistress as a new post office will be opening in the town at the end of September.
News of this comes as the existing post office, run by Postmaster John Murphy will be shutting around the same time.
Jennie Moloney, a Ballinamult local and Clashmore native with a wealth of experience in An Post, will be taking over the mantle, in a bid to keep the service within the local community.
“It’s a new challenge and to be honest, it took a lot to get it over the line. There were a couple of weeks there when I thought it would close up, but only for Cllr John Pratt and the regeneration committee, it would have closed,” Jennie told The Avondhu this week.
