A tractor run held in Glanworth last Sunday in memory of teenager Micheál ‘Haulie’ Murphy, proved a huge success, with over 180 tractors coming out to show their support and help raise money for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.
Haulie sadly passed away last August at the age of 14 when he fell from a tractor on the Killavullen to Glenville Road, a tragedy which left his family and the Glanworth community shocked and devastated. The community came together to honour his memory by holding this event, which saw a massive turnout of families and residents of the area.
The tractor run was followed by tea and coffee, which was provided in the Rose Garden, along with a bouncing castle and a DJ.
TREMENDOUS FEEDBACK
Ciaran Roche, one of the organisers of the fundraiser, said that the feedback they received following the event was ‘excellent’ and that they were extremely happy with the turnout of participants, with local contactors sending up to four tractors to take part in the run.
“We would like to thank all those who took the time to come out and support us,” Ciaran told The Avondhu.
“We would also like to thank the Three Counties Motorcycle Club and the gardai for providing us with escorts and the Sheehan family for the use of their field,” he added.
Organisers are hoping to make the tractor run an annual event.
