The Nano Nagle Birthplace in Killavullen was packed to the rafters recently as people gathered from far and wide to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the purchase of the birthplace in Ballygriffin by the Presentation Sisters from the Cronin family.

According to the director of the centre, Sr Lois Greene, in 1974 Sr Anthony Maloney, Superior of the Convent in Cloyne, the main instigator, contacted Presentation Sisters all over the world to ask for help financially to have the Nagle land returned to the Order from landowner John Cronin.

The date of April 26th was chosen for the recent gathering, as it was the anniversary of the death of Nano Nagle in 1784.
