Boyle's Gin, Aldi's own-brand spirit produced by Blackwater Distillers, has scooped gold at the prestigious Gin Masters competition in London.
The owner of the Cappoquin-based craft distillery Peter Mulryan, has said he's delighted with the win and that it's part of an exciting new period of growth for the company as they prepare to move into their new distillery in Ballyduff Upper, a move which will create numerous jobs for the area.
"It's brilliant," Mr Mulryan said. "We've won gold with our Blackwater Gin before but not with Boyle's. I think it's great that a €25 bottle can hold its own against gins that are double the price."
