This week Fermoy GAA Club officially launched the ‘Fermoy GAA Goes Racing’ fundraising event which will take place at Cork Racecourse, Mallow on Friday, July 13.
Local legends 2003 Aintree Grand National winner Monty’s Pass and trainer Jimmy Mangan, were met by senior players and club officers on the grounds of Fermoy GAA to kick off the launch on Tuesday evening last.
The ‘Fermoy GAA Goes Racing’ fundraising night will feature a full National Hunt card, with the first race going to post at 5.45pm. On the night racegoers can enjoy performances from top Irish bands as part of the ‘Cork Rocks’ music night.
The line-up includes Little Hours, Lorraine & The Conquerors with special guest, Gina, from ‘The Champions’ as well as fantastic entertainment from local bands Handipak and Deuces Wild.
There will be plenty of children’s entertainment, from climbing walls to bouncy castles, making it a great family evening out.
Club tickets can be purchased directly from the various club committee members and as Cork Racecourse, Mallow will refund a percentage of every admission ticket the clubs sell make sure to support your club and purchase your tickets in advance.
“We are delighted to welcome Fermoy GAA Club and their supporters to the races on Friday July 13. I am sure the whole town will get behind the event making it a brilliant evening out and I’m certain the enclosure will be packed with a good mix of GAA and racing talk, fun and plenty of catching up with old acquaintances. We have a great evening’s entertainment lined up and our Sweepstake draw, where €1,000 will be up for grabs for one lucky club, will no doubt gain plenty of interest on the night,” said Cork Racecourse Mallow manager, Andrew Hogan.
The event will raise much needed funds for Fermoy GAA club and is sure to be a great night out for the whole community.
“This is an important fundraiser for Fermoy GAA. We are currently putting together a significant development plan and this with kick start our initial phase. It is important that we continue to provide the best in facilities for all our players for hurling, football, ladies football & camogie,” said Tom O’Brien, treasurer of Fermoy GAA Club.
