Kilworth’s oldest lady, Hannah Scannell died on Sunday on her 102nd birthday.
Hannah (nee Heskin), had been hale and hearty up until some time ago and had celebrated her 100th birthday in Fermoy Pitch & Putt Club in 2014 in the presence of Taoiseach Enda Kenny who called personally to wish her well.
In March of this year, Hannah was the special guest at the raising of the tri-colour in Curraghagalla and was believed to have been the oldest person in Ireland to raise the flag on Proclamation Day.
She lived at her home in Ballyclough with her son Noel up until a few months ago before moving to Amberley Nursing Home.
She is survived by her son Noel, daughter Geraldine (O’Keeney), her sister Ann (Coughlan), extended family, relatives and friends to whom we offer our sincere condolences.
