An investigation is ongoing into the robbery of the Vodafone store in Mitchelstown, in which an unknown quantity of stock was taken inm the early hours of Saturday morning. It is believed that at least two people were involved, and were driving a silver Ford Mondeo.
Gardai confirmed that they were called to the scene of the burglary at 3:55am on Saturday morning last, November 12. No arrests have been made to date in connection with the incident.
While The Avondhu understands that the shop had just taken delivery of some new stock, a spokesperson for Vodafone would only confirm that the robbery happened and refused to comment further ‘due to the ongoing Garda investigation taking place’.
This is not the first incident at the Vodafone shop in Mitchelstown, it has been robbed and ransacked on a number of previous occasions.
On the same night in question, a car collided with a stationary vehicle at Kings Square in the town. It is understood that a car drove into a parked vehicle, causing damage to both the parked car and a nearby lamp post.
It is unconfirmed at present whether or not the two incidents are connected.
Gardai would welcome information regarding either incident.
