Vigil for Gaza well supported in Fermoy

The onslaught on Gaza, triggered by Hamas militants murdering over 1,000 Israelis on 7th October 2023, has resulted in devastating consequences for those living in the costal strip. With the Israeli Defence Forces continuing to pummel the territory, the world has looked on in horror at what’s unfolding.

Organised by the ‘Fermoy Palestine Solidarity Group’, a vigil took place in Fermoy Town Park last Friday evening. A near 100 strong crowd attended, many of whom have been maintaining a regular presence on Fermoy bridge – a campaign aimed at highlighting the plight of those left bereaved, homeless and hungry by the fighting in Gaza.

‘GENOCIDE BEFORE OUR EYES’ – O’DONOVAN

Addressing those at the vigil, Fermoy Palestine Solidarity Group activist, Imelda O’Donovan, said it was incredible to think that genocide was unfolding in Gaza.
