Mitchelstown Library will host an exhibition of contemporary photography of the war in Ukraine for the month of February, with the official opening of the exhibition this Friday afternoon.

‘Ukraine: The Price of Freedom’ has already been on display in the The Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin, as well as St Peter’s in Cork. Now, the collection of works by Ukrainian and international photographers are on display in Mitchelstown Library.

This collection gives a glimpse of life on the frontline of the war and for many, will express the reality of the devastation in a way that words and news reports never can.

In advance of the exhibition’s opening in Cork City, last May The Avondhu spoke with one of the organisers, Yevgeniy Ikhelzon. Mr Ikhelzon is a former Deputy Editor of Ukraine’s largest daily newspaper Segodnya, who is today living in Castletownroche with his family.
