Approaching their centenary celebrations, Fermoy Concert Band this week celebrated the official handing over of a new trailer to facilitate the group.
In 2022, they were awarded a grant of €5,000 under the Community Development Initiative towards the purchase of the trailer and on Wednesday, the official hand-over took place with members of the Fermoy Concert Band and Cork County Council in attendance.
Phil Dunphy of Fermoy Concert Band stated that the allocation ‘means a lot’ as he noted that in some ways, the popular local band has become a victim of their own success.
“The band is now so successful and large that we have a considerable amount of equipment that we have to bring to engagements. ….
