
A traditional style sausage produced by Fitzgerald’s butchers shop in Fermoy was the big winner at the Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland Awards held recently in The K Club.
The revamped butcher shop in Pearse Square beat off competition from all over Ireland to take home the coveted prize.
Significantly larger than a typical sausage, the Fitzgerald’s’ sausage was the stand-out entry when a team of independent judges set about adjudicating.
For his part, Barry Fitzgerald has no doubt the quality of pork used was a critical factor.
