Tom Harte Farm Services are hosting an Open Day on Thursday, June 23rd on James and Seamus Bourke’s Farm in Bolomore in Rathcoole. The Open Day will take place from 11am to 4pm and is a wonderful opportunity to see Delaval VMS V300 Milking Robots in action.
The farm is currently milking 125 Pedigree Holstein cows on a 45-hectare milking platform. In 2019 the herd consisted of 95 cows. Land adjoining the milking platform became available to lease and the herd was expanded to today’s number. In 2020 the decision was made to install two DeLaval VMS V300’s on the farm, replacing a 12-unit swing over parlour.
Tom Harte Farm Services designed the layout, installed and service the VMS V300 Robotic Milking System on the Bourke Farm and are delighted to work in partnership on a progressive robotic grazing system.
The main objective to producing milk on this farm has always been to provide a good standard of living for the family, doing so in the most sustainable, efficient and profitable way possible. Grass is a key ingredient for the successful integration of the VMS Milking Machine into their farm.
The Bourke Family believe that keeping good quality grass in front of the cows for as long as possible, is the foundation on which their farm sustainability is built on.
