Fermoy’s Canon Sheehan Chapel celebrates 100 years
On Sunday last we all came together on Ashe Quay, Fermoy for our first 5k fun run and 2k family walk. The atmosphere was very good as both young and old, runners and walkers waited for the off. The runners among us took off at 11am sharp and were followed shortly after by those of us who were walking. The enthusiasm amongst runners and walkers was excellent and well done to all who took part. We all met back at Gaelscoil de hÍde where refreshments were enjoyed by all participants.
THANKS
We would like to thank Cairde de hÍde for organising the event. In running the event we received great help and goodwill from a large number of people and a big shout of thanks to Vinny and Olly for all their help and support, to Ger Slattery for leading the walkers, to Jimmy Hennessy of Hennessy Cycles, to Fermoy Print, to Pauline Moriarty, town clerk and to Barnes Jewellers, Fermoy. A big thank you also to the members of An Gardaí who helped hugely in the policing of the event, thanks also to all the stewards who helped and also to Dr Marty Moher who was our doctor on duty. So all in all we can say that a great time was had by all. Well done to you all and keep up the training for next year.
