REGRETTED DEATH

There was widespread regret and sadness of the news of the passing (unexpectedly) of John O’Brien at his residence at St Anne’s Terrace on Saturday last, 13 April. He is survived by sisters, brothers, an aunt, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives and a large circle of friends, to whom sincere sympathy is extended.

John was reposed at McCarthy’s Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, 16 April before removal to St Andrew’s Church where the Requiem Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, 17 April. This was followed by burial in the local cemetery. May he rest in peace.

TABLE QUIZ

Kilfinane Parent and Toddler Group wish extend a huge thank you to everyone who attended the table quiz in McGrath’s Bar (Dugout) on Friday night last, 12 April. A great night was had by all and some great prizes won in the raffle.

A big thank you to Hugh Murphy for putting all the questions together and being a great quiz master on the night. To Joan O’Dea and Melissa Barron for putting so much work into the night. There was a very close finish to a very well run quiz and there had to be a tie round of five questions, after 100 questions had two teams level with 80 points each. After the tie break, the winning team of Seoirse and Ann Bulfin, Fintan Leahy and Brid Sheehy claimed the 1st prize trophies by one point, from the team of Colm and Michelle Lowe, Jonathon O’Loughlin and Glen Light, who secured the trophies in second place.

Thank you to local businesses who donated spot prizes for the raffle – Flowers By Martina, Sheehy’s Centra, Brian’s ‘n’ Diane’s Edges, Nila’s Nails and Neilus Hennessy Butchers. The raffle prize winners were: Jim and Mary Keogh St Annes’s Terrace; Grace O’Connor, Ballyroe Upper; Sean Fitzgerald, Galbally; Eleanor O’Dea, New Terrace; Anne Gleeson, Cush; Breda Walsh, Mountain View.

Some much needed funds were raised in order to keep the group running, thanks again.
