Hurlers lose out in senior semi-final

Mixed results for Blackrock hurlers, with the seniors losing in the championship semi-final, while the intermediates secured a victory.

Blackrock lost out to the holders Croom in the South senior hurling championship semi-final in a very well contested game played in poor weather conditions in Kilbreedy on Saturday evening last, 13 April, on a scoreline of Croom 0-16 Blackrock 2-07.

Blackrock, aided by the wind in the opening half, led at the interval by 1-05 to 0-04. Croom added some early second half points to go into the lead, but Blackrock fought back and scored a brace of points followed by a goal. Croom however added two late points to secure a three points victory.

Meanwhile, Blackrock reached the South intermediate championship semi-final with Castletown Ballyagran, by virtue of a victory by the narrowest of margins over Kilmallock on Wednesday evening last, 10 April on a scoreline of 1-14 to 1-13.
