An ambitious project aimed at meeting the needs of GAA members in Kilworth for generations to come is progressing at pace. With a target of Summer 2025 for completion, the 2-storey facility, once complete, will be an impressive structure, overlooking the club’s two GAA pitches and grounds, along with a vista containing a plethora of sporting facilities in the heart of the village.
Phase one will include dressing rooms, public toilets, lift access to a balcony, storage areas and a plant room. The good news is the project, to date, is on time and within budget; a project costing around the €1 million mark. Of course central to any project is funding and to this end, Kilworth GAA, Camogie and LGFA clubs are actively promoting their ‘Strong Foundations Campaign’ in the locality.
If sufficient funds can now be raised, phase two, which will encompass a community gym, can be completed alongside phase 1 works, something which would prove beneficial for the whole community as use of the top floor work-out space will be publicly available.

And so, a target of €200,000 has been set by the hard-working committee, with a variety of subscription options available, ranging from €500 to €1,000 – it’s important to note that these are payable over a 12/24 month period and contributions come with tax benefits. Also, subscribers will also receive one Rebels’ Bounty ticket for 2025 or 2026 – a draw itself which has a very attractive prize offering.
Fronting the fundraising campaign are prominent local GAA individuals: John Hegarty (086-4081766), Ber Wheeler (087-6179992), Mairead Lynch (087-3556778), John Heggtveit (086-8583332) and Shane Tobin (087-9425635).
