Broadcaster and presenter Anna Daly returns this year as AIB’s campaign ambassador to launch the 2025 GOAL Mile, calling on people across Ireland to continue to “step up together” this Christmas. GOAL Mile, proudly supported by AIB for its fifth consecutive year, takes place in over 160 locations around Ireland in December, raising much-needed funds to support GOAL’s vital work with vulnerable communities around the world.
This year, Anna is joined by an exciting line-up of AIB ambassadors to champion the GOAL Mile for 2025. Featuring renowned chef and author Trisha Lewis, beloved TV personality Daithí Ó Sé, and fresh from her win on the hit TV show, The Traitors, Oyin Adeyemi, this inspiring group is encouraging everyone to walk 2,000 steps – approximately one mile – to support the work of AIB’s charity partner, GOAL.
“I am delighted to be back to support this year’s GOAL Mile campaign – it’s wonderful to see the GOAL Mile returning, and for many, becoming a cherished tradition in their Christmas celebrations,” said Anna Daly, who returns as the face of the campaign for a second year. “It’s a great way for families and communities to come together, enjoy some fresh air, and continue to ‘step up together’ for GOAL’s vital work. Whether it’s your first time or you’re carrying on the tradition, every step makes a real difference to vulnerable communities around the world – so I urge you to take five minutes today and register for your local GOAL Mile walk.”
For over forty years, the GOAL Mile has brought tens of thousands of people together across Ireland to run, jog, or walk one mile, raising crucial funds for GOAL’s humanitarian efforts in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. This year, AIB is encouraging families across Ireland to either continue or establish their GOAL Mile tradition by stepping up together, embedding this event into their festive season.
“We in AIB were delighted to see so many families embrace the GOAL Mile last year, and it’s heartening to see this important tradition continue to embed itself in Christmas festivities,” said Colin Hunt, CEO of AIB. “It’s a truly meaningful way for loved ones to spend time together during a busy month, to stay active, and give back during the festive season. The GOAL Mile brilliantly highlights the importance of community and continues to inspire younger generations to support such a worthy cause.”
“As we enter another year of the GOAL Mile campaign, we are grateful for the unwavering support of AIB and the generosity of the Irish public,” said Siobhan Walsh, CEO of GOAL. “The GOAL Mile is so much more than fundraising; it’s about communities coming together in solidarity with those facing extreme challenges worldwide. Every step taken and every euro donated makes a tangible difference in the lives of the vulnerable communities GOAL serves.”
The 2025 GOAL Mile will once again take place in over 160 locations nationwide. AIB, unwavering in its commitment to building sustainable communities, is proud to continue its long-standing partnership with the GOAL Mile. AIB reinforces its dedication to helping vulnerable communities impacted by climate change, poverty, hunger, and conflict worldwide.
Whether walking, strolling, jogging, or running, everyone is invited to participate in the GOAL Mile with family, friends, or their wider community. Registration is now open at www.GOALmile.org. Participants and supporters can also donate directly to GOAL through the AIB app.
As a proud sponsor of the AIB GAA Club Championships, Camogie Club Championships, and All-Ireland Ladies’ Football Club Championship, AIB is also calling on GAA clubs across the country to host their own GOAL Mile events, further cementing the tradition of community support and togetherness within our Gaelic Games communities.
The 2025 GOAL Mile will once again feature the return of the AIB GAA GOAL Mile competition. Participants who register for the GOAL Mile can nominate their GAA club for a chance to win one of three top prizes: €7,000, €2,000, or €1,000 for their club.
