Mitchelstown was by far the busiest polling station visited by Avondhu reporter Tom Hurley up to dinner time this Friday, with a steady flow of people coming to exercise their franchise.

This was followed in turn by both Kilfinane in County Limerick and Kildorrery, with sparse enough numbers arriving at polling stations in Galbally and Ballylanders in County Limerick, as well as in Clogheen and Ballyporeen, County Tipperary.

The polling clerks at all seven stations visited on Friday morning said that this was in line with previous elections, with voter numbers definitely expected to increase from 6pm this evening.

Don’t forget that polls remain open until 10pm tonight, so don’t leave it until the last minute to exercise your democratic right.
