Sr Stanislaus Kent, who recently celebrated her 103rd birthday, said that her advice to the younger generations would be to ‘work hard’, a mantra which she has lived by during her long life.

At Aperee Living in Conna, celebrations were held early last week on June 10, as Sr Stanislaus turned 103, receiving a medal and a letter from President Michael D Higgins to mark the momentous occasion. Sisters from the Presentation Convent and Sr Stan’s family, visited the nursing home to celebrate, as a Mass was said in her honour, followed by a pleasant social afternoon.

A native of Ballynamona, Mitchelstown, which she described as ‘the home of good cheese’, Sr Stan was born in 1921 and attended school in the town where the order of Presentation nuns was well established.
