Motorists yet to grasp the dynamics of the new signalised junction at George’s Street in Mitchelstown are creating uncertainty that it is feared, according to a number of public representatives, may lead to an accident.
Cllr Kay Dawson brought the issue to the recent Northern Committee meeting of Cork County Council, saying there has been a number of near misses with motorists turning right coming up Church Street when they are not permitted to do so.
Both Councillors Deirdre O’Brien and June Murphy expressed the same concerns regarding the junction, due to people seeing the green light to travel straight ahead and not realising there is a dedicated green light for turning right.
