An exceptional human being by any standard – Mike Bourke is no longer with us. He passed away, aged 55, at his Devlin Street home on Saturday.
The announcement of his death at Saturday evening’s Mass in Fermoy was met with a sense of disbelief.
Michael was a past pupil of St Colman’s College, Fermoy and by all accounts, held his own academically. Like so many boys before him, he enrolled, studied and emerged from this famed school, ready and able to tackle the variety of life challenges that lay ahead.
Born and reared in nearby Devlin Street, Michael, otherwise, Mike or Mick (to a select few), he was to have a relationship with ‘the college’ that would span five decades.
